Warranty & Care

Every Lucent surface is backed by a written warranty and a care guide written for the material you actually installed. Download the documents below, and use this page as a quick reference for what the warranty covers and how to keep your surface looking the way it did on day one.

What the warranty covers

Lucent Quartz® warrants that its surfacing materials are free from manufacturing defects. Where a covered defect is confirmed, Lucent Quartz® will repair or replace the affected material at its sole discretion.

Residential — Lifetime Limited Warranty

Available only to the original owner and occupant of the single-family residence where the material was first installed, and not transferable to subsequent owners. Rental, investment, commercial, and other non-owner-occupied properties are not covered.

Commercial — Limited Warranty

Runs from the original date of installation and is available only to the original owner of the commercial property where the material was first installed.

Conditions that apply

  • Material must be fabricated and installed by a Lucent Quartz®-authorized fabricator.
  • Material must be permanently installed indoors and must not have been moved from its original installation.
  • Material must be paid for in full.
  • Claims must be raised with the company that sold you the material within thirty (30) days of discovering the alleged defect.
  • Proof of purchase is required, along with reasonable cooperation during inspection — photographs, documentation, and access to the installed material.
  • Repair or replacement of the affected material is at Lucent Quartz®'s sole discretion; labour is not included, and an exact colour, pattern, or finish match is not guaranteed.

Not covered

  • Outdoor installations and unauthorized applications, including flooring, bending, and curving
  • Fireplace surrounds and other applications exposed to direct heat sources
  • Improper use or abuse — mishandling, excessive heat, thermal shock, chemical abuse, or neglected maintenance
  • Labour, transportation, removal, reinstallation, and disposal costs
  • Chips, cracks, and gouges from impact, and scratches or abrasion (the material is scratch-resistant, not scratch-proof)
  • Routine maintenance such as removing stains, water spots, residue, fingerprints, and metal marks
  • Fabrication and installation workmanship, which is the sole responsibility of the fabricator or installer
  • Defects that were visible or reasonably observable before or during fabrication or installation
  • Seam appearance and performance, adhesives, caulking, and other accessory materials
  • Damage from chemicals and cleaners not recommended for the surface
  • Material that has been milled, reduced in thickness, or otherwise altered from its manufactured condition
  • Damage caused by, or to, ancillary products — sinks, brackets, cabinets, cooktops, plumbing, and appliances

This is a summary for convenience only. The full terms, conditions, and exclusions are set out in the warranty documents above, which govern in the event of any difference.

Care & maintenance

Requirements vary by material, colour, finish, fabrication, and application. Pick your surface below.

Lucent Quartz®

Lucent Quartz® is a durable, non-porous surface that needs minimal maintenance. In most cases warm water and a mild soap or detergent is all it takes. A non-abrasive household cleaner or cleaning wipe works for routine cleaning — always follow the manufacturer's instructions and test a new product on a small, inconspicuous area first.

Everyday cleaning

  1. 1.Wipe up spills as soon as possible.
  2. 2.Clean the surface with warm water and mild soap or detergent.
  3. 3.Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  4. 4.Dry the surface with a soft cloth or paper towel.

Products & materials to avoid

  • Abrasive cleaning powders, unless specifically approved by Lucent
  • Steel wool and abrasive scouring pads
  • Metal blades and sharp scraping tools
  • Harsh scrubbing or excessive pressure
  • Strong acids and highly alkaline chemicals
  • Hydrofluoric acid or any product containing it
  • Oven, grill, and drain cleaners
  • Paint strippers and aggressive solvents
  • Any product not specifically recommended for quartz

If the surface does come into contact with a potentially damaging chemical, rinse the area immediately and thoroughly with clean water.

Stubborn stains

Gently loosen dried food or residue with a plastic putty knife — never a metal blade or sharp tool. For marks that survive routine cleaning, use a soft cloth with warm water and a non-abrasive cleaner suitable for quartz, then step up to Lucent QCP if needed. Always rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water afterwards and dry the surface.

Honed surfaces

Honed colours — LQ 6311L Tangula, LQ 3202 New Moon, LQ 6300 Himalayas, LQ 4720 La Lune, LQ 4412 Moe Black, LQ 4718 Raw Cement — may need cleaning more often than polished ones. Their matte finish makes some marks more visible:

  • Fingerprints
  • Cooking oils and grease
  • Metal marks from cutlery and other objects
  • Marks from belts, buttons, and other metal items

Heat resistance

Lucent Quartz® tolerates moderate heat for short periods, but it is not heat-proof. Prolonged high temperatures or sudden temperature changes can cause cracking, discoloration, or scorching.

  • Never set hot pots, pans, kettles, or baking dishes directly on the surface.
  • Always use a trivet, cork hot plate, or heat-resistant mat under hot items.
  • Keep appliances that generate continuous heat off the surface.
  • Never expose the surface to direct flame or concentrated heat.

Fireplaces and surrounds

Lucent Quartz® is NOT recommended near direct heat sources such as wood-burning or gas fireplaces. Quartz contains resin components that prolonged heat can discolour, crack, or scorch permanently. Consult a qualified professional when selecting material for high-temperature applications.

Lucent recommended products

Two products made specifically to protect and maintain Lucent Quartz® surfaces.

Liquid Shield

A protective layer over the quartz surface that helps guard against everyday use and staining. The surface must be completely clean and dry before you apply it — any oil, residue, dirt, or dust left behind gets trapped underneath, becomes harder to remove, and can affect how the surface looks.

  1. 1.Thoroughly clean the quartz surface.
  2. 2.Remove all oil, grease, dirt, dust, and other residue.
  3. 3.Make sure the surface is completely dry.
  4. 4.Apply Liquid Shield according to the product's instructions.

QCP — Quartz Cleaning Powder

A cleaning powder developed by Lucent for stubborn stains that normal cleaning will not lift. Mix it with a little water to make a paste, then work it over the affected area. Test it on a small, inconspicuous area before treating the whole surface.

  1. 1.Make sure the surface is clean and free of loose debris.
  2. 2.Apply a small amount of QCP to the affected area.
  3. 3.Add a little water to create a paste.
  4. 4.Gently work the paste over the stain using the recommended method.
  5. 5.Rinse the area thoroughly with clean water.
  6. 6.Dry the surface with a soft cloth or paper towel.
